ABOUT THE ARTIST
Cat Masters is an artist based in County Roscommon, where her work is shaped by the people, landscapes, and everyday life of the west of Ireland. Working across portraiture, silhouette, drawing, and printmaking, she is drawn to the fleeting moments that often pass unnoticed—a familiar profile, a quiet expression, a place remembered through light and atmosphere.
A graduate of Woodbury University in California with a BFA in Animation, Cat later earned an MA in Museum Communications from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Her professional career has included work as an art consultant and marketing associate for fine arts institutions throughout the United States, alongside a diverse freelance practice spanning illustration, design, portraiture, and commercial art.
Her creative projects have ranged from illustrating the New York Times bestseller The Day I Shot Cupid by Jennifer Love Hewitt to developing branding and web design for public figures and online platforms. Her work in body painting and makeup artistry has appeared in television, film, and editorial projects, including multiple seasons of America's Next Top Model, Vogue, and Glamour.
As Lead Illustrator for an international print and jewellery company, Cat developed a reputation for highly detailed silhouette portraiture. During this time, her original Sketched Silhouette™ gained recognition with clients around the world. Created independently in 2015 and drawn entirely by hand, the style remains central to her work today.
Now based in rural Roscommon, Cat's practice is increasingly focused on portraiture and works inspired by the heritage, character, and landscapes of Ireland. Whether depicting a family, a saint, a historic place, or a passing moment, her work seeks to preserve what is meaningful through careful observation and a distinctly hand-crafted approach.

The Studio Sketch Portrait is a looser, more expressive version of the Sketched Silhouette™. Sketch lines are more visible here, adding distinctive energy and movement. It’s less finished but full of life, with a soft colour palette to compliment each portrait.
